Synopsis:
NEXUS Group, Nexus Insurance Brokers LLC is one of the Largest Independent Financial Advisors in the region offering a composite suite of insurance, savings and investment products to Corporate and Individual clients. Nexus has over 320+ qualified professional consultants and is supported by a cadre of 70 dedicated and qualified support staff in the Middle East region offering a broad range of licensed products from regulated providers. With some twenty years’ experience in the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council), Nexus operations are located in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Qatar, Lebanon and the Kingdom of Bahrain to underpin a professional and quality level of service to our clients. Nexus is regulated for the provision of Life Insurance, Savings Plans, Group Medical and Life programs as well as various classes of Commercial Insurance also including Employee Benefits. Nexus needed to deploy ERP and revamp their IT infrastructure which was agile, flexible and highly available to meet the growing business needs with a tight budget. 

 

Solution:
Seven Seas undertook the task of designing and deploying infrastructure which would be agile, highly available, flexible   meeting their growing business needs. Seven Seas-Nexus insurance partnership brought about an agile and highly availably private cloud, built upon IBM Bladecenter, storage, Microsoft System Center suite of products, Hyper-V and CA Data protection suite. The new infrastructure currently hosts all their MS infrastructure services and business applications.

The project was completed in time and is currently live. This new virtualized infrastructure is yielding the business advantage in terms of higher productivity, scalability, agility, Service availability and much reduced TCO.

To meet this objective there was need to reconsolidate reporting besides upgrade their ERP for better business intelligence. Transcore run and manage RTA toll systems. They have had a 24x7 high workload environment with very high transaction volumes owing close to a million vehicles passing through the toll gates each day. With challenge of performance and availability with the existing infrastructure, their business plans and operational requirements necessitated improving the productivity of the systems. 

 

Solution & Implementation:
Seven Seas worked with them to study the environment and design a storage solution which was based on benchmarks and actual workload considerations. Various enterprise class storage vendors were considered and after a detailed and in depth analysis a configuration was selected and designed based on IBM DS5000 series storage. The new infrastructure was deployed within two weeks. The new storage and server configuration improved the productivity by 5-8 folds and at the same time providing required scalability and greatly reducing outage risks which has benefited their operations business tremendously.

Synopsis:
Landmark Group acquired the regional business of Fitness First and wanted to have a highly available Infrastructure to serve as regional datacenter in contrast to the overall IT framework at Landmark Group. The infrastructure needed to be agile, scalable and highly available to 24x7 in different time-zones in the region. 

 

Design and Implementation:
Seven Seas provided matured and consultative engagement with Landmark IT and proposed a solution based on HP Bladesystem C7000 and BL460 and BL680 Blade System. Based on virtual and non-virtual needs this environment not only would meet the availability and scalability requirements but would also bring in the benefits of low cost and good return on investment.

Synopsis:
Headquartered in the city of Dubai - the financial and business capital of the region, NGI is a composite insurance company and became an Associate member of the leading financial institution - Emirates Bank group in the year 1996. NGI is proud to enjoy the status of being a fully accredited National Insurer. The Company is publicly quoted and listed in the Dubai Financial Market. NGI had around 16 physical servers dedicated to each application, all their data was scattered and was stored at different places, management of these servers was an issue with 200 users, They were on Windows 2000 Environment with Single Forest and Single Domain Architecture, and their mailing platform was on Microsoft Exchange 2003, no protection against SPAM, their Backup Exec (Expired), Lack of Certificate Authority nor Rights Management for Security.

 

Design and Implementation:
We proposed Virtualization design with High Availability which included two DELL PowerEdge R710 Rack Servers where we have virtualized all roles in bringing into a High Availability role and these were connected to DELL PowerVault MD 3600i External 10Gb iSCSI SAN which is faster and cost effective than the Fiber Channel SAN, also it will be the common storage for these servers and will be a centralized location for the data. The DELL hardware provided in this solution was based on DELL’s three main concepts such as Cost Containment, Ease of Use and Investment Protection.
